Mary Mary Quite Contrary Nursery Rhyme Video

Mary Mary Quite Contrary how does your garden grow?

“With silver bells and cockle shells and pretty maids in a row”, of course!

We’ve been very excited about making this episode for months as it’s one of our favourites.

We set ourselves the goal of making our version look pretty and magical.

Throughout the video we have used changing focus to give Mary’s garden depth and make it feel both real and otherworldly at the same time. We hope you like the effect.

The story starts as we zoom into Mary’s rooftop garden on top of her mushroom house.

The garden lights up as she pops up through her trapdoor and flies up to view her wonderful garden from above.

We follow her as she marvels at her row of silver bells and the cockles make their first appearance but stay submerged in the river.

Next she greets her three pretty maids in the form of beautiful flowers with yellow faces.

The flowers lift her up into the sky as she revisits the silver bells.

Now it’s the cockles’ turn to delight Mary with the enormous pearls they have made for her (OK, we know we took a bit of artistic licence with this as it’s oysters who make pearls but we thought it was pretty).

After waving goodbye to her friends, Mary goes back into the house via her trapdoor and we leave them all to rest.

As with all our videos it would be great to hear what you think so we can produce the very best quality nursery rhymes on YouTube.

Mary Mary Quite Contrary Lyrics

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells,
And pretty maids in a row.

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
What secrets, tell your magic spells,
The pretty maids want to know.
